Utah Spaceport Panel Seeks $2.5 Million for Two-Site Review

Salt Lake City, Utah (October 30, 2026).

Utah’s Spaceport Exploration Committee unanimously recommended $2.5 million to advance FAA licensing, environmental review and technical studies for potential sites near Delta and Green River. The October 30 recommendations also call for at least two dedicated UDOT employees, with a combined annual cost estimated at $500,000. The proposed funding would not pay for land acquisition or construction, and keeping two sites under review does not commit Utah to building two spaceports. Lawmakers must decide whether to fund the next phase. Commercial demand, financing, environmental impacts and final site selection remain unresolved, despite economic projections and preliminary feasibility findings.
