Utah Dept of Commerce Reported Four Actions: Driver Data, Lease-Payment Debt, Overcharges, and Ag...

Salt Lake City, Utah (October 30, 2026).

Utah’s Division of Consumer Protection reported settlements addressing vehicle data privacy and lease financing, alongside pending pricing litigation. Utah receives $6,938,619 from a $220 million General Motors settlement requiring stronger driver-data consent and privacy practices. A Snap Finance agreement cancels $16,758,262 in Utah consumers’ lease payments for agreements entered during 2017 through 2022, allowing affected customers to retain their goods. Most of the nationwide Snap settlement’s stated value is canceled debt, not cash payouts. Separately, Utah joined a lawsuit alleging Dollar General checkout overcharges; the allegations remain unresolved. The October 30 report also outlined planned November 2 online age-verification enforcement.
