OxEon Opens North Salt Lake Facility for Electrolysis Scale-Up
North Salt Lake, Utah (November 2, 2026).
OxEon Energy opened an automated manufacturing facility in North Salt Lake on October 30 as it works toward commercial production of electrolysis technology. The opening followed more than $36 million in U.S. Department of Energy support announced in 2024 for manufacturing automation and scale-up. OxEon’s cells helped NASA’s MOXIE experiment produce oxygen from Martian carbon dioxide. On Earth, the company is pursuing hydrogen and synthetic-fuel applications for aviation, shipping and other markets. The initiative originally targeted 25 megawatts of annual equipment-manufacturing capacity, but TechBuzz’s report does not establish achieved throughput or commercial-volume shipments. Reliability and repeatable manufacturing remain central challenges.
