The most automated interlibrary loan system is now updated!
PROVO, UT, May 26, 2009 -- SirsiDynix, the world leader in library automation technology, is excited to announce the release of URSA® 4.2. URSA, the Universal Resource Sharing Application, is the most automated interlibrary loan system available. It communicates with local circulation systems to provide self-service requests that save staff time and speed the delivery of materials to library users. It also includes a Reciprocal Borrowing module that enables staff to authenticate visiting patrons against their home library system, discover their current status and, if eligible for service, automatically create a new record for the user.
Highlights of this release include:
Web-based staff interface for Reciprocal Borrowing
Search All Partners option shows a user’s status at multiple partner sites
Staff can change pickup locations until an item is received at the borrowing library
Staff can edit patron barcodes at any time
Requests for items owned by the user’s own library can be profiled to convert automatically to a hold, refer the user to their own library’s catalog, or go ahead and place the request at a partner library
Added flexibility for the display of request forms
More detailed event and interval tracking for reports
Enhanced user type mapping for NCIP
A number of customers worked with SirsiDynix to define and test URSA version 4.2 prior to its release. Talin Bingham, SirsiDynix Chief Technology Officer, stated that “URSA 4.2 is the most stable and up-to-date resource sharing system available and our customers appreciate the ability to offer state-of-the-art standards-based consortial borrowing to their users.”
