Lingotek Aids Nu Skin in Global Translations

Direct Selling Company to Use Web-based Collaborative Translation Platform to Bring Product, Marketing Materials to Asian, European Markets More Quickly, Cost Effectively

DRAPER, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lingotek, the leader in collaborative translation technology, today announced that $1.25 billion direct selling company Nu Skin has chosen Lingotek to help centralize and streamline its ability to bring localized materials to its multiple markets in the Americas, Europe and South Pacific. Under the agreement, which includes Lingotek’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) collaborative translation platform and the use of Lingotek translators, as needed, Nu Skin expects to increase translator productivity to enable them to translate a greater number of documents more quickly and accurately—and at a lower cost.

Nu Skin, based in Provo, Utah, has more than 750,000 independent representatives selling personal care products and nutritional supplements in 48 global markets, representing 35 languages.

“Translating product labeling and marketing materials and localizing them for the different nuances in each country can obviously be a huge challenge,” said Greg Darlington, vice president of marketing and operations for Nu Skin’s Americas, Europe and South Pacific region. “Our network of local translators have excelled at translating millions of words of material into the 16 languages represented in our region, but we feel that having a community translation platform like Lingotek will enhance their efforts by helping to better manage their projects and increasing their productivity. Overall, we expect using Lingotek will make it easier to launch new products and services to all markets in a more timely fashion.”

With Lingotek’s Web-based interface and project management platform, Nu Skin can upload new projects, assign translators, check the status of current projects and download completed documents. The company’s translators benefit from the software’s Translation Memory capabilities, which enable them to reuse translated content; as well as the ability to work on projects from any computer and collaborate with colleagues and their managers to ensure translation accuracy along with the more expedited translation.

“With its vast international presence, Nu Skin truly is a perfect example of how companies can utilize collaborative translation technology to help break down language barriers and make global communications and commerce more open and accessible,” said Robert Vandenberg, CEO, Lingotek.
