Silicon Slopes: What is Vucci and what do you do?

Dave Affleck: Vucci is a leading IT solutions provider. We provide world class IT infrastructure and support at a price that delivers positive return on investment. We specialize in virtualization, providing client solutions for consolidating IT infrastructure, reducing energy consumption, automating IT operations, and protecting the data center from outside threats.

Silicon Slopes: What sets you apart from other competitors in your field?

Dave Affleck: In the IT world, virtualization means dividing one resource or device into various virtual resources so you have more resources to work with. Virtualization allows you to use your resources more efficiently.

Silicon Slopes: What sets you apart from other competitors in your field?

Dave Affleck: We help companies do more with less – especially during these economically challenging times. We love spending the time upfront to really understand our customers’ IT challenges and then provide solutions that help them succeed both in the short term and long term.

Silicon Slopes: Who are your customers or what markets are you targeting with this virtualization technology?

Dave Affleck: The key is continually learning about and testing the latest technologies so you are best prepared to help customers leverage the benefits from IT innovation. Plus, it’s critical to develop solid relationships with the leading IT providers so you can work together to meet customers’ needs.

Silicon Slopes: Who are your customers or what markets are you targeting with this virtualization technology?

Dave Affleck: Some of our customers are The Generations Network (ancestry.com, myfamily.com, etc.), University of Utah Medical Center, and Utah Valley University. Our target market is enterprise-level businesses, healthcare, education and government – those wanting to decrease operating costs, unused resources, and energy usage and increase output, efficiency and return on investment.

Silicon Slopes: Where do you see the virtualization market heading?

Dave Affleck: Virtualization is rapidly transforming the IT landscape and is closely tied to the attention and excitement surrounding cloud computing. More and more companies will look to virtualization to improve IT efficiencies and reduce costs since virtualization is not only here to stay but also the catalyst for the future. While a lot of markets are struggling right now, the markets tied to virtualization are poised for growth so it will be exciting to see just how fast they grow.

Silicon Slopes: What is your background and how did you come to be a part of Vucci?

Dave Affleck: My background is in technology, which is where I’ve spent the last 20 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in Business Management from BYU and from there went on to work for various technology companies including Compaq, ADP and Novell. I ended up leaving Novell in the mid 90s to start my own technology company in partnership with HP. And now Vucci Technology Solutions is a new company I started that builds on the success of my prior ventures and really positions us to be a leader in the IT virtualization space.
