Utah Genius awards the top 20 Utah inventors and top 20 companies based on the number of patents Utah inventors obtained for the previous year. Utah Genius also recognizes the top 20 trademark registrants. Additionally, we pay tribute to geographic areas where the creative people live by giving awards to the top 5 cities by number of patents granted to its residents and the top 5 cities by patents per capita. Our lifetime achievement award is presented to an individual who has promoted creativity in Utah and had a significant impact on the state’s economy. This year’s honoree is Sheri L. Dew, CEO of Deseret Book, both for her own works of authorship and for the creation and growth of Deseret Books’ Shadow Mountain line of books.
