Our speakers are two local professionals with experience in globalization and entrepreneurship.
Miguel Rovira, Regional Director for the Americas in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, International
Trade and Diplomacy. Miguel R. Rovira, Esq. is a lawyer/business executive with over 20 years of management experience. He has advised
CEO’s, senior management and investors regarding strategic business planning, international marketing, and financial operations. Mr. Rovira
has successfully lead organizations through start-up, turnaround and aggressive growth campaigns. He has extensive domestic and international
telecommunications experience. Moving to Salt Lake City in January 2004,Mr. Rovira was hired as the Executive Director of the Utah
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In 2005, he was appointed the Regional Director-Americas where he assists Utah companies with access
to international markets and represents the state in a diplomatic role vis-à-vis international delegations. Mr. Rovira sits on a number of boards,
including the BlueCross BlueShield Community Board, theWorld Trade Association Board, theWells Fargo Community Board and the Nature
Conservancy Board. Mr. Rovira was also recognized as one of the 8 Top Directors by Utah Business Magazine in 2009.
Rod Castillo has vast experience in the areas of business and engineering. He is the Executive Director for the Pete Suazo Business
Center. The center has a two-pronged mission to serve Utah’s Latino/Hispanic and other under-served populations: First, to provide education
on what is needed to start and run a successful business in the United States; and second, to serve as an access point for
organizations, institutions, and other existing entities that wish to offer their services to the under-served community in this area.
The center’s services include business management counseling, business plan development, marketing, and procuring of business financing.
Prior to serving as the Pete Suazo Business Center’s Executive Director, Mr. Castillo was a Senior Field App Engineer, an electronics design
engineer and a business owner. He sits in the Board of Trustees of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah and was selected by
Business Connect Magazine in 2008 as one of the “20 Influential Hispanic Business Leaders in Utah.” Mr. Castillo holds an Electrical
Engineering degree from BrighamYoung University and an MBA from the Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah.
