Reinsure was founded in October 1999 to develop Internet-based applications for the reinsurance market. The founders saw an opportunity to NY Bridge change the traditional model of information technology deployment in the reinsurance market by developing web-hosted applications that can be accessed via a standard internet browser. This ASP approach is having a profound effect on the costs of information systems in other industries and offers a powerful model to a business such as reinsurance. The technology opportunity is added to by the evolving XML (extensible markup language) standards that will assist in the integration of future web-hosted systems and legacy back-office processing systems. The first area of focus for eReinsure has been the development of a "front-office" reinsurance placing system. We see this as a logical first step in introducing the potential collaborative benefits of a system that holds information centrally and can be easily accessed by multiple parties to a transaction.

The founding team for eReinsure has been drawn from the insurance, reinsurance and technology fields.

The company has established a technology development center in Salt Lake City and has offices in New York and London.
