DriveSafety was founded in 1995. Originally, founded as Hyperion (Ft. Collins, CO), it merged with a Utah company and formed KQ Corporation, later renamed GlobalSim. In 2003, this Utah-based organization split into two entities: GlobalSim, focusing on crane-based simulation and military applications, and DriveSafety, focusing on automobile driving simulation and novice driver safety. DriveSafety’s vision is to make driving safer through scientifically-validated solutions. DriveSafety’s commercial products and services are the industry’s benchmark for driving research, fitness, assessment, training and rehabilitation. DriveSafety’s mission is to reduce driving-related deaths and injuries. DriveSafety advances safe driving and prudent transportation options for the youngest, oldest and medically-impaired populations. DriveSafety’s driving simulation systems are used by the world’s leading universities, automobile manufacturers, rehabilitation centers, driver educators and private research labs. The driving simulators allow researchers to better understand driving issues by leveraging DriveSafety’s extensive library of roads, intersections, vehicles, traffic patterns and landscapes, plus the ability to script specific actions and to collect the desired data. Through its healthcare partners, DriveSafety technology is used to assess the driving fitness of those with recognized or suspected cognitive or physical impairments. Medical professionals; e.g., neuropsychologists, neurologists, gerontologists, geriatricans, occupational therapists, are able to leverage a validated system to make recommendations as to an individual's driving fitness, from the elderly to those recovering from a brain or debilitating injury.
